Honey Care Africa is a small, recently established
Kenyan Private sector
organisation that has been working to promote sustainable community-based
bee keeping initiatives across Kenya by establishing synergistic
partnerships
with numerous development organisations and diverse local communities.
Honey Care has been working closely with numerous development
organisations to make it easier for rural subsistence farmers
to engage in bee
keeping as a supplementary income source. Through access to easy
credit,
appropriate training and a guaranteed market, thousands of farmers
have now
started bee keeping across the country.
Honey Care strives to incorporate
all the elements of Fair Trade in its everyday
practices and operates as a responsible and ethical business. Further,
honey
Care is dedicated to ensuring that all its projects are socially,
environmentally,
and economically sustainable. In total, Honey Care has helped
to establish over
11,750 Langstroth hives across rural Kenya.
