Methodology

 

Eligibility: The NGOs featured in The ForeignAID.com Global Catalog for Philanthropy Online are ForeignAID.com Certified NGOs. Participating NGOs must satisfy the following criteria:

  • MUST be legally registered Not-for-Profit organizations

  • MUST be operating and registered for at least 1 year

  • MUST have a proven track record of success and accountability

  • MUST not conduct any activities for personal gain

  • MUST be conducting actual programs that directly benefit the poor and destitute

  • MUST be willing to complete a detailed application process

  • MUST have good management systems in place

  • MUST pass ForeignAID Ratings' Affidavit of Equivalency requirement

  • MUST not use program funds directly for religious purposes

Process: The featured NGOs are chosen and continuously updated after the following process:

  • Input from ForeignAID.com's global network donors, international organizations, professors, and community leaders in Africa and abroad

  • A Rigorous application process for each NGO applicant

  • International Reference check and comments

  • In-house analysis of Transparency, Financial Efficiency, Social Impact, Institutional Development, and Non-Violence/Non-Terrorism.

Criteria: The strict standards set by ForeignAID Ratings were followed to identify organizations that satisfy the following criteria in the NGO Star of ExcellenceTM:

  • Social Impact
  • Institutional Development
  • Financial Efficiency and Sustainability
  • Accountability
  • Non-Violence (Non-Terrorism)

A holistic approach is used to identify not-for-profit organizations that are having a sustainable and long-term impact on the small community they serve, their region, their nation, and/or the continent.
