ICT Services: Training and Curriculum Development Case Study: ForeignAID Ratings LLC administers the 2004 YouthWorx Program in Nairobi, Kenya ForeignAID Ratings LLC was commissioned to administer the 2004 YouthWorx program, which trained high-potential children of single parents and disadvantaged youth in computer hardware, software and networking.
"I can now handle a
computer well. I can seek sponsorship from the internet. I can apply for
job opportunities through the email and I can stay in touch with big
people in the [ICT] industry." The youth participated in a two-week, intensive training program between August 9 and August 24, 2004. Upon completion of the program, the YouthWorx students received technology certificates to facilitate their future employment in Nairobi's IT sector. The YouthWorx computers were installed by the YouthWorx students in the new ForeignAID Ratings YouthWorx computer lab at the University of Nairobi, revitalizing the university's technology infrastructure and providing technology access to hundreds of students from a variety of socio-economic backgrounds. At the inauguration of the new YouthWorx computer lab, the YouthWorx students were introduced to ForeignAID Ratings LLC partners in Kenya such as the Kenya Youth Business Trust and The Kenya Rural Enterprise Program, which specialize in employment and entrepreneurial services. ForeignAID Ratings LLC conducted this project in collaboration with the Kenyan Ambassador to the UN, Prof. Judith Bahemuka and Dr. Tim Waema, the University of Nairobi Director of Information Communications Technology.
